March Meeting - Free Software LAN Party!

FRAG! The Thursday March 16 meeting is a free software LAN party!

Note that an earlier version of this announcement said March 17, that was a mistake.

Games will be Doom (PrBoom as the engine, Freedoom as the data), and XPilot. These games were picked for their ability to be usable on older hardware. If you can bring a laptop, please do, but if you don't have one it's okay, PLUG members believe in sharing! Network equipment will be useful too.

Date/time: Thursday March 16th, 2006, 7:30pm. Location: room 2M70 (M=Manitoba building, the boardroom) at the University of Winnipeg, 515 Portage Avenue.

UMark for Linux

I haven't visited in a long while, but if you look at my previous post, you may have noticed that I'm an Unreal Tournament fan. Anyways, as a programmer and Linux advocate, I have decided to also make my UT2004 benchmarking program for Linux. This isn't only for gamers, but also for those who would like to compare 3D benchmarking between Linux and Windows using the Unreal 2 engine. All details can be viewed at the website: http://www.unrealmark.net/linux.php

Unreal Tournament in Linux (without wine)

Yeah, you can play UT in Linux without having to deal with wine.... You've probably heard of the software company called Loki , which ports some very good game titles over to Linux. Anyways, Loki offers a 100% free Linux port of UT (total port, no wine involved).
